Tulip Festival Enjoys Perfect Timing
Fear not! The show will go on! A blustery cold and wet spring has caused
quite concern with potential Tulip Festival visitors this year.
The Tulip Festival office has fielded a number of inquiries this
spring regarding everything from tulips to whether or not we’d even have a
festival. In short, the answer
is yes. There will be a Tulip
Festival with beautiful tulips!
Many visitors also call to ask what specific day the tulips will actually
bloom. On one such call,
Chamber Director Mike Hoffman replied, “Well, you’d have to ask the man
upstairs.” To this the caller
responded, “Is that a different number?”
Thankfully, the man upstairs orchestrated the weather just perfectly. This
spring’s cool, wet weather was reminiscent of the Netherlands tulip growing
season and helped to contribute to the overall growth and success of this
year’s tulip patches. Even with
the lateness of this year’s festival, the tulips will be at their prime just
in time for those three special days the third weekend in May.
Tulips are just starting to bloom and should be in full bloom in time for the festival
