MOCHA Kiwanis Club sponsors popular Tulip
Festival Road Race and Tulip Walk
A popular event at Orange City, Iowa's annual Tulip Festival is the Saturday
morning 5K and 10K road races. Over 200 runners typically participate in this
May event, sponsored by the Orange City Recreation Department and the MOCHA
(Maurice Orange City Hospers Alton) Kiwanis Club, with all proceeds going to
Kiwanis service projects.
In addition to the runs, two Tulip Walks a one-mile fun course and a 5K
fitness course offer scenic courses for walkers of all ages. Wellness teams,
families, and anyone interested in a pleasant spring walk through Orange City
starting and ending in the Windmill Park amidst beautiful tulip beds is
encouraged to register. Profits from the Tulip Walks will be donated to the
Orange City Community Daycare Center.
The 5K and 10K road races include both mens and womens divisions in seven age
categories. A $30 first place cash prize and $20 second place cash prize is
given to the overall winner in womens 5K, womens 10K, mens 5K, and mens 10K
races. Plaques are also presented to the first and second place finishers in
each age division.
Runners and walkers are encouraged to register before April 30. Registration
fees are as follows: $12 before April 30; $15 from May 1 - 19; and $20 on the
day of the race (May 20). All participants in the road races and tulip walks
will receive a commemorative T-shirt.

Individuals, teams, and wellness organizations are encouraged to participate.
